DP Predicted Grade Assistant - TE
This is a download for the IB Diploma Program Predicted Grade Assistant (PGA) for individual teachers. A whole school version is coming soon.
The PGA helps DP teachers determine a student’s predicted grade from on multiple statistics that are based on the major assessments given in class. The assessments are categorized by the different components that the student will be assessed at the end of the two year program (the various external assessments and the internal assessment).
The PGA will take the components and weight them the same way that IB weights them. To help you determine what the student’s predicted grade should be, you will use your knowledge of the student along with the following statistics:
Mode - The PGA will tell you the most frequent grade achieved within each component.
Average - All of the assessments for each component will be averaged and then weighted based on IB’s weighting of the components.
Trend - The trend takes all of the assessments within each component and creates a linear regression formula. This formula is then used to “predict” what the next score for that component would be if the student’s trend continued. Each component is then weighted based on IB’s weighting.
The trend does not consider the complexity of subsequent tests. Just makes a prediction based on past performance.
Typically, these three sets of data home in on a single score. Using your judgement from these scores and your knowledge of your student, you can come up with a more data-informed predicted grade.
Additional features
You will receive a “level” of low, middle or high scores, depending on where the student’s performance is within the markbands of you assessment.
You can use multiple courses on the same spreadsheet.
You have a place to track the different predicted grades required by your coordinator along with a dating the PG so you know which assessments are used to make that decision.
Defaults of 5’s are given for IAs if you need a PG before your class has started working on their IAs.
This predicted grade assistant is set up for use with Google Sheets and may not function properly in Excel or Numbers.
